Once again we were on the road and this time it was to Finn Valley’s enviable set up in Donegal where our “Magnificent 7” did battle with some of Ireland’s finest young Athletes in the U9-11 age category.

It was a great day for our squad who gained a wealth of experience in a very competitive environment.

We were close to a top 3 with Sarah and Isabel O’Brien (not related) pipped for third place in the 60m team sprint by 0.08 of a second. Read more

Well done to our relay squads who took home 2 x Dublin county titles, a runners up spot and 2 x 3rd place finishes over the last two Friday evenings at the Dublin Juvenile Relay Championships. Read more

Six titles for BAC athletes at the Dublin T&F Juvenile Championships

Although a little late with this report, BAC had a very enjoyable weekend at both Santry & Tallaght (last weekend) as the top Dublin athletes brought the Juvenile Track and Field Championships to a grand finale.

With a strong focus on this competition since early March, the athletes were very well prepared and didn’t disappoint with a string of Top 3 finishes and some excellent PB’s in the process as we continue to build towards the All Ireland’s in July……Six athletes were crowned Dublin County Champions and we had more then 30 athletes competing over the three days. Well done to everyone involved.

Fit4Life comes to Blackrock Athletic Club

A Fit4Life section commenced in Blackrock A.C. in Summer 2013. The Fit4Life Programme is designed to give people the opportunity to get fit and enjoy jogging/running in structured environment and is based on a programme developed by Athletics Ireland.

The programme is suitable for beginner to improver walkers, joggers and runners and the emphasis is on meeting with people of a similar ability to do regular walks, jog and runs in a safe, friendly, sociable environment. Participants set their own goals and are assisted by the trained Fit4Life leader in the club who set out a weekly training schedule. All members get weekly advice, training tips and encouragement.

The Blackrock A.C. Fit4Life Group meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 8pm and Sunday at 11am at the Blackrock A.C. clubhouse in Carysfort Park off Carysfort Avenue. The cost of membership of Blackrock A.C. Fit4Life is €65 for 2014. This includes for registration of Athletics Ireland. If you are interested, just come along to a training session to try it out.
