2015 is rapidly winding down and another action packed “athletics year” is ready to close out. In the midst of frantic last minute preparations for the holiday season, our athletes, coaches, committee members, family and extended family took some time out to enjoy the festivities at the Annual Turkey Trot in Carysfort Park over the weekend. Although it wreaked havoc over the weekend “Storm Desmond” couldn’t prevent Ireland’s top Juvenile XC Athletes from competing on Sunday as Dungarvan played host to the final Club Juvenile championship of the year. The crowds were treated to an exciting set of races with Blackrock athletes to the fore and serving up some outstanding performances. Congratulations to Sarah Healy (U15) and AmyRose Farrell (U17) on their National titles thrilling the large crowd in attendance. It was another phenomenal day for Blackrock AC on the National stage. Secondary schools XC update December 2nd

We had several athletes competing over the last few days in the Secondary Schools XC races. Once again there were large #’s at the Edmund Rice XC Comp and the Holy Child sponsored Clann Na Gael races.

Ellen Cheung (Mt Anville) put in another strong performance in the girls minor race finishing in 1st place in a large field at Clann na Gael in Irishtown yesterday. Helena Paran (Mt Anville) was second in the girls Junior race with Evan Walshe (St Benildus/ Minor Boys) and Oisin Kelly (Newpark CS/ Junior boys) securing top 6 finishes in their respective races. There were also good performances from Claire Doyle (Mt Anville) and Anna Dignam (Mt Anville). All of the above athletes were part of their school teams who had top 3 finishes. On Monday, Jack Moraghan (Clonkeen), took part in the Secondary Schools Edmund Rice XC competition at ALSAA and put in a strong showing.

Juvenile league 3 update 29th November

We finally got your “typical XC conditions” at Tymon Park on Sunday last when a small group competed in the third and final Juvenile League on the Dublin XC circuit. A big congratulations to Robert O’Brien on a great run and first place in the boys U11 and also to Isabel O’Brien in the girls U12 who had a Top 6 finish that gave her fourth place overall in the Girls U12 race League series. Well done to both athletes.

U9 – Holly O’Brien (Top 10), Rachel O’Brien (Top 10), Sinéad Kelly
U11 – Hannah O’Brien, Robert O’Brien 1st;
U12 – Isabel O’B 6th; Simone Towns 7th; Doug Walshe 6th; Robert O’Brien 7th;
U14 – Evan Walshe 7th;
U15 – Oisin Kelly 4th
