Congratulations to Sarah Healy on a fantastic win in the 1500m B Women’s race at the BMC meet in Watford on Saturday evening. In doing so, she recorded a new PB of 4.27. 90. Blackrock A.C. Sports Day 2016 (with photos)

Our Annual Sports day took place on Sunday last in Carysfort Park. As always, this is one of the highlights of our year and once again we had glorious sunshine making for a fun filled and action packed few hours.

A big thank you to the many volunteers that helped out in the races, field events, catering and score keeping and to those who donated to our food stalls!! It was definitely a case of Cakes Galore!!

Some great performances right across the board on a day when the taking part takes centre stage! Highlights included the 30 + young athletes in the Toddlers races, to some very impressive Egg and spoon participants (have they been practicing!?) to exciting mixed relay finishes and a hotly contested adults race won by Barry Thornton.

We would also like to thank our close friends, Cabinteely A.C., who joined us on the day.

Leinster Schools Day One- updated: Strong showing by club athletes + Sarah’s PB in Belfast

Comments Off on Leinster Schools Day One- updated: Strong showing by club athletes + Sarah’s PB in Belfast Uncategorized

Congratulations to Sarah Healy (Holy Child Killiney) on yet another individual schools title, this time taking the honors over the Mile in the girls U16. Fresh from a superb run in Belfast last weekend, with a PB 4.32 over 1500m, Sarah was always in control of yesterday’s proceedings, easing to victory with a strong second half of the race. Well done to Sarah on a great week. Her run of 4 min 32 sec was also 2 seconds inside the EYOF qualifying time. Unfortunately, she is outside the current rigid European Athletic qualifying criteria (she is too young this year!!) but a superb run.

Emma O’Brien (Mt Anville) was narrowly pipped in to second place in a very fast Minor girls 80m whilst Ellen Cheung (Mt Anville) was in the hunt all the way down the stretch in the minor girls 500m before finishing 3rd in a very tight encounter. Both girls were also part of the victorious Mt Anville Minor girls 4 x 100m relay team. Well done to both athletes. Read more
