AAI National Juvenile Indoor Championships update Days 1 & 2

Comments Off on AAI National Juvenile Indoor Championships update Days 1 & 2 Uncategorized

Congratulations to David Purcell who took a fine silver medal at the All Ireland Juvenile Indoor Championship last weekend in AIT. David was against very strong competition in the U13 60mH but put together two fine sprints to secure a well deserved second place overall. Well done to David.

Holly O’Brien also had a great outing, running a fine time in her heat/ U12 600m to easily qualify for the final where she finished 5th overall. Jack Moraghan was very unlucky, failing to make the 800m U18 final by one place finishing seventh fastest (top 6 made final). Well done to both athletes.

The previous weekend, Ella Cowman in the girls U15 1.5K Walk, produced an outstanding display finishing 5th overall (in only her second race at this discipline). Rachel Kiely also performed well in this race whilst Abbie O’Connor (U12) and Anna McCarthy(U15) did well in the Shot Putt.

Congrats to the athletes and next up are the Relay finals on April 7th.

Sarah takes 5th Schools XC title in Waterford

Comments Off on Sarah takes 5th Schools XC title in Waterford Uncategorized

Congratulations to Sarah Healy (Holy Child Killiney) who notched up her fifth consecutive Schools XC title last weekend and in doing so created another piece of history as the first female athlete to hold all four age category titles at Minor (CIT 2014), Junior (Clongowes 2015), Inter (Sligo 2016 & Mallusk 2017) and Senior (WIT 2018). The race itself was a “mudfest” but once again Sarah was in imperious form making light of the conditions with yet another dominant display. Well done to Sarah.

Lara Gilespie was also running in the Senior race and was part of the Wesley College team that finished third in the team competition. Oisin Kelly (Newpark) missed the Senior boys race as he was away on holidays.
