Holly takes top 10 finish at All Irl XC in Dunboyne

Comments Off on Holly takes top 10 finish at All Irl XC in Dunboyne Uncategorized

Congrats to club athlete Holly O’Brien who was in outstanding form over the weekend in the All Irl U13 2500m at Dunboyne, Co Meath. Having only finished in 8th place in the Dublin County Final back in October, Holly’s hard work over the last few weeks paid rich dividends with a 10th place finish in the race and third Dublin athlete home.

In what were typical XC underfoot conditions, Holly was in the lead group from the start and stayed in touch throughout with a great performance. She was also part of the Dublin team that won County Team Gold and Province Team bronze..

This caps off another fine year for Holly, having represented the club in three National Competitions, and keeping a great club tradition of underage middle distance top 10’s on the National stage.

She also had the added bonus of been recognised as the Club’s Juvenile athlete of the year for 2019.

A great way to round off 2019. Well done Holly.

Once again Members, Friends and Family turned out in great numbers at our Annual Turkey Trot in the Park on Sunday last.  It’s been another busy year for the club who celebrated it’s 75th Anniversary back in November and has seen it’s membership continue to grow from strength to strength in both the Juvenile and Adult section.

Congratulations to the following athletes who took the main awards:

Holly O’Brien (Overall athlete of the year), Anna McCarthy (Female athlete of the year), James Browne (Male athlete of the year) and Anna Smyth/ Amelie Cafferkey who shared the Mary O’Connor Award.

Well done to the athletes on a great year.

Nigel Cowman was a deserved winner of the Club Person of the Year award as he continues to bring outstanding expertise and business acumen in his capacity as Club Treasurer.

Our Deepest Sympathy to the Roquette Family

Comments Off on Our Deepest Sympathy to the Roquette Family Uncategorized

We wish to send our deepest sympathy to the Roquette Family on the passing of their darling Samuel – a leading light in our 2008 Age Group who was due to accept his Award as 2019 Athlete of the Year in his Age Group on Sunday last.

Our thoughts are with the Roquette family who are instilled in all sections of Our Club as Senior Athletes, Juvenile Coaches and Juvenile Athletes including Dad: Benjamin, Mum: Louise (Kinlen), Sister: Abigail (former 2004 member) and Brother: Antoine (2006).

As a mark of respect to Samuel and his loving family there was a moments silence before the 2008 Age Group lead out the Turkey Trot on Sunday morning last in Carysfort Park.

May Samuel Rest in Peace.
