April News Summary
April was a busy month for the club on all fronts. Easter came early this year with a group of our Juvenile athletes launching the SPAR Great Ireland Run alongside household names including Sonia O’Sullivan, Fionnuala Britton and Mark English (see photos). And of course to the event itself where we had a large presence at both juvenile and senior level taking part in the run at the Phoenix Park.
Over the same weekend a “hardy bunch” from BAC and Cabinteely AC braved the atrocious weather conditions for a “mini comp” in Tallaght AC on the Sunday morning. Well done to all the younger age groups who put in a very committed effort over the sprints/ 400m races and to the U13/14/ 15’s who ran in a mixed 600m race. The competitive edge came to the fore and a big thank you to parents/ coaches from both clubs who braved the elements for the 45 mins !!
Our AGM took place on Wednesday 15th April at the Stillorgan Parks Hotel. Suffice to say that the club is in a healthy position on all fronts with numbers growing in our Senior/ Fit4Life section and juvenile section. Off the course the club is making significant progress on various projects. One can only be impressed with the great “strides” made over the last few years and this is down to the large collective effort from all involved.
The Run2Brussels Club Fundraiser is also gathering momentum and May 10th is edging closer. Save this date in your diary and come along and support us as we aim to run the 977k to Brussels !! (see home page for more details)
June & Paul O’Brien made the short journey to England to compete in the London Marathon last weekend and enjoyed this “Global Athletics event”.
