We had a lot of people taking part in events this weekend and were delighted to return to the Cabinteely 5km Parkrun with about 20 people taking part from the club. Well done to Seamus who completed his 100 parkrun and to James D and Imelda who both got course pbs on the scenic course. Well done also to Bryan Sheils who competed the Monaghan Marathon. Wicklow Eco Trail
Well done to the Blackrock A.C. members who took part in the Wicklow Eco Trail 18km, 45km and 80km distances on Saturday.
- Mark Kilcoyne came 14th in a time of 01:51:59 in the 18km category.
- Ted Burke was 18th in the 45km category in a time of 04:56:34, with Pierre O’Conghaile coming in 05:56:55 and David Martin in a time of 06:05:56.
- Eoghan Hughes completed the 80km distance in 10:10:14, a truly incredible distance in difficult terrain with almost 3km incline across the course.

Berlin Marathon 2021
Blackrock A.C. was well represented at the Berlin Marathon also.
- Darren Egan was first home from the club in an incredible time of 02:41:32, Owen Kelly 03:01:55, Ger O’Toole 03:12:37 and Niamh Bolger in 05:30:53.
- Note that the lottery for the Berlin Marathon 2022 opens 30th September.

VHI Virtual Mini Marathon
A special mention to the 12 Blackrock A.C. Women who ran the virtual Women’s Mini-Marathon around Belfield and Blackrock on a sunny September morning the weekend before last. Mary Butler was first home from the group in a time of 51:59. Well done ladies!

Parkrun returns
After a hiatus of just over a year and a half, the Parkruns are back!!! Blackrock A.C. Women ventured to Shanganagh Parkrun where a few of the women got PBs! A special mention to Blackrock A.C. member Eileen O’Sullivan who completed her 200th park run.
Blackrock A.C. Club Awards
Congratulations also to Sinéad Howard who was award Blackrock Athletic Club Women’s Athlete of the Year 2020 and Lorraine Kenny who was awarded Most Improved Athlete of the Year 2020 at a ceremony in Rockfield Park on Saturday 11th September 2021.
Fit4Life Webinar – 29th September, 7pm

Fit4life Virtual Event – 10km Challenge
From now until the end of the October, we are going to continue the series and have a 10km virtual challenge. Just log a 10km each week for any of your runs or even enter an average over a longer run. This is a good opportunity to do a weekly tempo run with a recommended pace of half marathon pace or a 10km race time +5 minutes. You can log your results here: 10km Virtual run
