After a 16 month hiatus, our Juveniles were delighted to get back to competing in the Dublin Championships last weekend in Tallaght Stadium.
The Championships are being approached differently this year with the necessary Covid restrictions and will take place over a number of weekends between now and the end of July.
Dublin Junior and Juvenile Track and Field Championships 2021
Day 1 saw our U15 boys and girls hitting the track for the 1500m. Friday was a beautiful sunny evening and despite the lack of spectators it was great to see out Juveniles back on track. Taking part in the 1500m were Natasha Armah-Kwantrwg, Aobha Cooney, Isobel Lydon, Daniel Norton and Holly O’Brien. It was clear everyone had put in the hours of training over lockdown and they all placed very well in their heats.
Our U14 boys and girls also competed in the 1500m. Megan Brunt, Brianna Carty Dwyer, Andrew Clancy, Senan Garvey, Harry Moran, Rachel Murphy, Lughaidh O’Cleirigh and Kayla Sexton. All ran great heats and some smashed their PB times. Next up we had the U15 Boys and Girls 100m. Representing Blackrock A.C. were Clarissa Byrnes, Phillip Doyle, Juliette Dunn, Gavin Laing and Jack Muslow. It was amazing to see 3 of our athletes through to the final (Juliette Dunn, Gavin Laing and Phillip Doyle) with Phillip Doyle winning gold in style.
Thank you to Tommy Gavin for supporting the athletes trackside.
