Once again Tallaght AC played host to the Indoor championships and there was a healthy representation from all the clubs for the Sprint and Hurdles events.

Most of the events involved heats and semi finals and our athletes did us proud.

Under 9’s: Congratulations to Isabel O’Brien who brought home a silver medal and also to Sarah O’Brien who competed in this race. In the boys race Doug Walshe (4th), Neal McCarvill (7th) and Fionn Boyd (6th) all made the final. Well done to our U 9’s. This was their first event of the year and it was a great effort.

Under10’s: Well done to Emma O’Brien who brought home a gold medal in a wonderful race. Emily McAleese also competed here amd made the semi finals. Well done girls.

Under 11’s: In the girls race Ellen Cheung made the finals and finished 5th and Evan Walshe (4th), Mark O’Brien (5th) and Ben McAleese (6th) all made the boys Final. Well done to all.

Under 12’s: Congratulations to Sinead O’Shea and Jack Moraghan who brought home bronze medals in each of their races. Roisin Whitely, Alanna Scanlon and Jennifer O’Brien also competed here. Both Sinead and Jack have qualified to run in the Indoor Nationals on the weekend of the 24th/ 25th March. Well done to all.

Under 13’s: Congratulations to Ruairi Moore on finishing 3rd in the boys race and to Robin O’Brien (5th) who made the final in the girls under 13 race. Dylan Connaughton, Ciara Jackson and Molly Ryan also competed in this age group. Ruairi also qualifies for the Indoor championships to be held later this month. There was a large contingent in this age group and well done to all.

Under 15’s: Tommy O’Brien brought home a gold in the hurdles and finished 4th in the sprints final. Tommy will also go on to the nationals later this month and was unlucky not to qualify for the sprints as well.

Blaclrock Athletic Club would like to thank all the athletes and their parents for the time and effort given to the championships over the last three weekends. It has been an enjoyable experience for all involved.
