There was another big turn out in Santry earlier today as our sprinters took centre stage at the Dublin Indoor Championships. Congratulations to Emma O’Brien, Laura Gallagher and Libby O’Gorman who all secured Dublin titles in their respective age groups. Well done girls.
U 9/10/11 Girls and Boys:
Libby O’Gorman took her first individual title when she won the U10 60m and Grace O’Connor was 4th in the final. Luke Moraghan claimed a bronze in the boys final and Sean O’Riagain was 5th in the same race. Spare a thought for Annalie McMahon who was second in the semi’s out in lane 9 but due to a judging error was given fourth place and missed out on what surely would have been a top 3 finish in the final.
In the U11’s Ella Cowman also missed out on a final spot due to an error but can be proud of a great performance today as can Hannah O’Brien. Both girls really enjoy competing. In the U9’s both Holly O’Brien and David McMahon enjoyed the competition as they start their “Blackrock journeys”. Well done to all.
U12 Girls & Boys:
Isabel O’Brien was fourth in the 60m final where Simone also did very well to make the final whilst Ciaran Patchell was equally impressive finishing fifth place in the boys Final.
U13 Girls:
Emma O’Brien had a very impressive start to to the 2015 season. After a strong showing over the relays last week she once again put a string of fine races together securing another individual sprint title. Well done Emma. Laura Gallagher followed her home in second place in the 60m and went one better in the hurdles with her first individual title. Well done to Laura. Maria Coffey was also running in the sprints and showed up very well in reaching the final.
Girls & Boys U14:
Kristina O’Connor had to settle for bronze in the 60m in a very fast final and Evan won a silver medal in his first outing for some time with the club in the boys 60m hurdles. Pappy Tucker stepped down from his middle distance commitments and finished in a very strong fifth place in the boys U14 60m final. Well done to all three athletes.
Girls U16:
Robyn O’Brien added another silver medal over the 60m capping off a fine two weeks and Nicole Gallagher also showed up very well reaching her first individual final and finishing in a superb fourth place. Great work all round. Well done to both girls.
