The track season got under way earlier today at Santry Stadium. Provisional results and competitors courtesy of reports from Joan Colgan, Peter Cosgrove, Michael O’Brien and Kevin Tucker.
Boys/ Girls U9: Well done to Holly O’Brien and David McMahon who were running in their first competitive events, both did well placing 4th and 5th in their respective 500m finals.
U10 Boys: Sean O’Riagan had a fine second place in the 500m whilst Luke Moraghan enjoyed fine performances over the same distance and had a gold in the Long Jump..
U12 Boys & Girls results:
Shot putt: Ciaran Patchell was second and Oliver Coffey was third and Isabel O’Brien took bronze in girls shot
Long jump: Ciaran and Harry Casey were in the mix and Doug Walshe had a fine comp with a jump of 3.80 for second place
600m/ Boys: Ciaran qualified for final where he finished 6th with a great run in a very tough race.
Girls: Simone Towns, Natasha Rolland, Isabel O’Brien and Sarah O’Brien all qualified for final with Isabel turning in an amazing performance to get third on the line with Simone 6th and Sarah 9th. Natasha was spiked and bravely finished the race.
Girls U13: Emma O’Brien won the Shot Putt comp and was second in the HJ. Well done to Emma. Alice Walshe also competed in the 600m
Girls & Boys U14 and older:
200m: Robyn O’Brien had a great set of races finishing second (U16 200m) with Nicole Gallagher and Jack Moran also competing.
800m: We had a very small turn out in the middle distance races due to a combination of illness, mid term and a focus on the Schools XC season. Pappy Tucker had a great run finishing 3rd in the boys U14 whilst Sarah Flaherty (U15), Jack Moraghan (U15) and Mika Ryan (U17) also competing.
