Dublin Indoor T&F update Day 1 & 2 (with photos)

Day 1 Dublin Indoors
Once again we had a big turn out on Friday/ Saturday last as the Dublin Indoors took centre stage in Santry. A big congratulations to our U9/10 athletes who were making their first competitive appearance on the track. Below are the reports from those two days:

U9’s: A big congratulations to Willow Hogan, Sarah Cowman and Ruben Marnell on their first official outings with the club. All three had great races on Saturday over 500m.

U10’s: There were a number of athletes competing on Saturday in Santry in the 500m and the Long Jump. Holly and Rachel tried out the Long Jump and judging by the amount of chatter and laughter they both seemed to enjoy their first Long Jump experience! David McMahon and Killian Thornton also braved the elements to compete in the Boys Under 10 Long Jump. Both boys jumped really well with David McMahon getting a Silver Medal for his efforts. Well done D and Killian.
In the 500m, Holly O’Brien ran a strong race to finish 4th and just outside the medals. Rachel was unlucky to get spiked in her race and despite this recovered well in come in the top 6. David McMahon, David Quinn, Chris O’Brien and Oisin O’Gormley all running very well in their 500m races also.

U11’s: There were a number of athletes competing yesterday in the 600m with Aina, Eve, Daniel Schwer, Luke and Sean all running very well with Sean O’Riagain taking a well deserved silver in the boys 600m.
Indoors, Libby O’Gorman secured a gold medal in the long jump with Annalie, Caoimhe, Eve and Evie all competing for the Girls competition and Luke and Daniel Schwer competing for the Boys. (Report by Fergal O’Riagain)

U12’s: We had a good turnout yesterday too. Shane won silver in long jump followed closely behind by Robert (4th) and Tim. Sophie and Ella also did well in the long jump. They also tried out the high jump for the first time – some practice needed there!
Robert narrowly missed out on a medal in 600m coming 5th. Tim qualified for the final but didn’t realise it so went home to watch the rugby! Andrew, Hannah and Sophie also did well in 600m. (Report by Barry Thornton)

U13’s: Lucy Schwer and Ciaran Patchell picked up fine third place finishes in the High Jump and Shot Putt respectively whilst Isabel O’Brien and Simone Towns had fine runs finishing 5th and 6th in the 600m in a very strong race. Well done to all four athletes. There were also very good performances from Isabel Lynch, Amy McColdrick, Patrick O’Donnell and Robert O’Brien.

U14’s + older: Emma O’Brien was 4th in the Shot Putt whilst Robyn O’Brien (U17’s) qualified for the 200m finals with ease but due to the long delays couldn’t hand around for the finals. We also had good performances from Pappy Tucker (U15’s), Jack Moraghan & Luke Reynolds (U16’s) and Ruairi Moore (U17’s).

A big thank you to all the coaches for their age group summaries and if we have missed any performances and athletes can you please email info@blackrockac.ie
Well done to all involved and the support from parents over the weekend.
