East Leinster Schools Update

We had a big turnout over the last week at the East Leinster Schools T&F competition in Santry and once again our club athletes were in fine form for their respective schools.

In the Minor girls, congratulations to Issy O’Brien (Mount Anville) who picked up an individual title in the girls 500m along with a team gold in the 4 x 100m relay. Simone Towns (Rathdown) was also competing in the relays. Meadbh Doyel (Colaiste Iosgain) also made the 80m sprint final.

In the Junior girls, Congratulations to Bobbi Gilespie (Wesley College) on taking the Pole Vault title with a new PB. Sarah O’Brien (Mount Anville) was third in the 200m and was then joined by Natasha Rolland and Beth Carty as their relay team took silver in the 4 x 100m. Beth Carty also made the 100m final. Lucy Schwer (Holy Child Killiney) also had a strong run in the 1500m and was fourth in the HJ. Anna Smith (St Andrews) also made the 100m final. 

In the Junior Boys, James O’Brien (Oatlands) doubled up in the 800/1500m where he had two fine runs whilst Doug Walshe (Benildus College) was in 4 x 100m relay team. Ruben Bolger (Oatlands) was also running in the 4 x 100m relay team

In the Inter girls, congratulations to Carla Hudson (Wesley College) who took the individual 200m title along with a runners up spot in the girls 100m. Kristina O’Connor (Loreto Dalkey/ 3rd), Emma O’Brien (Mont Anville/ 4th) and Isabel McCann (St Andrews/ 5th) were also in the 200m race.

Also, congratulations to Beth Sweeney (Sion Hill) who won both the Long Jump and High Jump events with Laura Cronin (Mount Anville) coming second in the High Jump and also making the final of the 80m Hurdles. Ellen Cheung (Mount Anville) took a silver in the 800m whilst Emma O’Brien & Sarah Al Mukhaiseem were part of the Mount Anville team that won the 4 x 100m and Beth was part of the Sion Hill team that finished third.

In the Inter Boys, Evan Walshe (Benildus) had a fine run finishing in second place in the 1500m S/C.

In the Senior girls, congratulations to Sarah Healy on yet another EL title in the 1500m whilst Robyn O’Brien (Mount Anville) had a double silver in the 100m/200m and was also part of the winning 4 x 100m relay team.

In the Senior Boys, congratulations to Oisin Kelly who took the 5k title and also had a bronze in the 2k s/c.

Top 2 in sprints & relays and top 3 in Middle distance will go forward to the Leinster schools at Santry in mid May.
