East Leinster Schools update May 1st

We had a host of athletes (27 in total) competing over the last few days at Irishtown in the East Leinster secondary schools T&F championship. Well done to you all and in particular those who were competing today in what were very difficult weather conditions.

On Wednesday we had strong individual performances from Tommy O’Brien (Blackrock Col) winning the U16 400m Hurdles and by Robyn O’Brien (Mount Anville) who continued her fine form of late with a win in the Minor girls sprints with Nicole Gallagher (Loreto Foxrock/ 2nd), Sarah O’Dea (Mount Anville/ 3rd) and Anna Daly (Holy Child/ 5th).

Earlier today Sarah Healy (Holy Child) won the 1100m Minor girls in great style with Natasha Twomey (Mount Anville) finishing strong in second place. Anna Daly was back in action over the hurdles and narrowly missed out on a Minor title in a photo finish whilst Jennifer O’Brien (Mount Anville) was fourth in the same race. Robyn O’Brien was second in the Long Jump and both Mount Anville relay teams won the A & B 4 x 100 finals.(Robyn, Sarah O’Dea, Natasha Twomey, Amy Rose Farrell and Jennifer O’Brien were all on the winning teams.

Newcomers Lara Gillespie (Wesley College) and Amy Rose Farrell (Mount Anville) had a 1/2 in the 500m. Well done to both girls.

Finally, a special mention to Julie Ringrose (Mount Anville) on her first individual title in winning the girls 800m Minor race with a fine performance. Well done Julie.

Next up is the Leinster Schools T&F championships in Santry in a few weeks.
