August 2014 Update – Fit4life celebrate one year of running! (Report by Gerry Flaherty)

Blackrock A.C. Fit4Life goes from strength to strength after one year of walking, jogging and running.  From one evening a week at the start in July 2013, the group now trains 3 times a week with almost 60 members now in the group. To celebrate the one-year, a number of the group stopped for an enjoyable ice cream in Teddy’s as part of a recent 7mile evening run. We also marked the milestone with a special Fit4life cake and some drinks in the nearby Dark Horse.

The group can be now spotted around the roads of Blackrock in new orange technical training tops. Despite the summer holidays – such is the motivation within the group that they took the decision to continue training over the summer. The dedication and commitment is certainly paying off with great results and lots distances being covered and many PBs coming in each week!

Marley Parkrun August 16th – Fit4Life Group Run – The regular group target runs/races are always special and the group run in Marley on August 16th was significant for many reasons. Well done to new member Jennifer who recently had a new arrival and with all her supporters she was cheered for her first 5k with a great big smile on her face. Well done too to Mairead and Emer on their PBs and to all Blackrock AC Athletes who took part in the Marlay Parkrun:

Training continues Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and Sunday at 11am and all abilities are catered for from total beginners to those who run regularly.
