The Fit4life Club Awards 2020 have been presented on Tuesday 24th August to the Fit4life Athlete of the Year and the Most Improved Fit4life Athlete of the Year.


News

  • Sarah and Ted finishing their last 5km in every county

    Sarah and Ted celebrated completing their target to run a 5km in every County in Ireland over the last two months in Cabinteely this week.

  • Blackrock A.C. men’s captain Rob completed his run streak of 365 days of running and completed 5000km in the process.
  • Congratulations to Rachel, Melanie, Mark, Sarah and Ayse who completed the virtual Frank Duffy 10miles last weekend and to Bryan who completed the Longford virtual marathon today in the heat (Howth and back).
  • Blackrock A.C. Members took part in the IMRA Downhill Uphill Mile Challenge last Wednesday. James Curran finished 30th in 00:10:28 while Eva Fairmaner came 34th in 00:11:15.

Fit4Life Club Awards 2020

The Fit4Life Club awards have been in existence for the last 8 years and have been usually followed by the very special Teddy’s Ice cream run. This year’s awards were presented at our weekly Fit4Life run on Tuesday evening. For anyone interested, the club awards have a designated chapter in out 75 year club history book (hard copies are currently available in the club house).

Congratulations to this year’s winners: 
  • Sarah Conroy: Most improved athlete
  • Katherine Duff: Fit4Life athlete of the year award

A special mention to Bryan Sheils who completed his 50th marathon in 2020. Well done everyone!!!

Vo2  Testing – Free online information class

Health Matters are delighted to be able to speak to Blackrock A.C. club on 1st September at 8pm all about performance testing and the application of the results. The presentation will go through the finer details around the Vo2 and metabolic tests, along with the benefits behind them and show how the application of the data will have a positive impact on training and performance.

The session will also include a Q&A, so any questions club members might have about availing of this service, the data or sports performance in general will be answered. The presentation will done be by Seán Kinane, a sports performance specialist and owner of Health Matters who has over 10 years’ testing experience.


Upcoming Events

The Roundwood Reservoir 10k on Sunday 12th September at 10.30 is being recommended as a group run for Fit4life. This run is on a lovely scenic course around the Vartry Reservoir. More details can be found here: https://lakers.ie/lakers-events/roundwoodrun2021/

Parkrun to return on 11th September

With current government guidelines in Ireland allowing for gatherings of up to 500 people in open spaces such as parks, Parkrun Ireland announced that some 5k events in Ireland will restart from Saturday 11 September 2021. We are looking forward to more information and to be getting out for our weekly 5k runs on a Saturday again very soon.

COVID Reminder

We are still required to follow HSE Guidelines. Anyone who had not completed the Covid-19 survey can do so at the following link (Covid19 form link). If anyone is not feeling well in any way or injured you should not come to training.

The current requirements will remain in place until further notice. Hope to see some new faces at training this week and as usual, everyone is welcome.  If you have not signed up for 2021 membership, you can do so here.
