Our club athletes were part of a hugely impressive day in Tullamore on Saturday last at the All Ireland Secondary Schools finale.
Most of the individual action for our athletes took place in the girls & boys intermediate section where Sarah Healy (Holy Child Killiney) was the stand out performer in the Inter girls 1500m, taking yet another title with a commanding display. Robyn O’Brien (Mt Anville) was equally impressive in an exciting finish in the girls 200m where all three athletes came across the line in close quarters with Robyn taking bronze on this occasion. Oisin Kelly (Newpark CS) secured his first top three finish at National Level with a well deserved and very popular bronze medal in the 1500m Steeplechase. Lara Gilespie (Wesley College) had her best race of the year finishing 5th in a high quality Inter girls 800m whilst Beth Sweeney (Sion Hill) had another fine outing in the Long Jump. Training partner, Roisin Treacy (St Gerards), took a fine silver in the Inter girls Steeplechase.
Emma O’Brien and Sarah AlMukhaizeem spearheaded the Mt Anville Junior girls relay team to a second place whilst Robyn was joined by Anna Dignam as Mt Anville secured relay bronze in the Inter girls final.
Well done to all our athletes
