The first weekend of the Irish Life Health National Championships has taken place and Blackrock A.C. put in a huge performance. Over 20 Blackrock A.C. athletes qualified to take part in this year’s National competitions in events including High Jump, Long Jump, Javelin, Sprint distances and 600/800m races.

The weather was uncooperative particularly on day 1 with pools of water on the track and rain forecast for the day but the competitions rolled on.
Some First-Timers
Competing at the Nationals was a first-time experience for the majority of the Blackrock A.C. squad. Their dedication and focus were rewarded with personal bests and medals from Day 1. A number of athletes achieved dual medals in their chosen events.
Qualifying for the Nationals and competing at such a high level is a great opportunity particularly for the younger age groups as it demonstrates what commitment and focused training can achieve.
Congratulations to all that took part including Rosie, Aela, Laragh, Alex, Brianna, Holly, Philip, Dónal, Mark, Ciara and Killian. A special call out to Dónal, Killian and Mark who took home 5 medals between them.
