Juvenile T&F season off to a flying start **updated with photos**

We’re back…..and the start of a new season with many new faces and the black & gold of BAC flying high in the relatively blue skies over Santry Stadium. We had a record number of athletes competing over the weekend.

Pride of place goes to Isabel O’Brien and Kristina O’Connor who secured first place finishes in the U10 & 12 60 metres sprints. Both athletes came through heats & semis and showcased their undoubted talent over this distance as the finals moved to the indoor track. Congratulations to both girls.

Boys Under 9: Well done to Stephen Flaherty on his first taste of official competition and he was our only entrant in the Under 9 category. Stephen competed over the 60m and 300m and put in two very fine performances. Congratulations Stephen and welcome to the “team”

Girls Under 10: Both Sarah O’Brien and Isabel O’Brien picked up silver and bronze over 500 metres on Saturday and both were once again to the fore in the shorter distance earlier today. Isabel ran a stormer in the final to take gold and other participants over the two days were Isabel Lynch, Rachel Kenny, Ruby Scarlet Fitzgerald, Monica Doyle, Abbey Cunninghan, Helen & Grace Cawley, Orla Byrne and Lauren Boyle.

Boys Under 10: Once again we had a strong contingent over the two days and well done to Daniel Mullane who picked up a bronze medal in the 60 metres final earlier today. Ciaran Patchell also made the final running for fourth place. Other particpants over the two days included Tom Cosgrove, Doug Walshe, Barry Winters, Harry Casey, Alex Mason, Hugh Crotty, Paul Corcoran and Seadh Corcoran,

Girls Under 11: Well done to Laura Gallagher who picked up two silver medals over the 600m and 60m. Laura was joined in the 60m final by Emma O’Brien who finished 4th and other participants over the two days included Orla O’Shea, Emily McAleese, Emily Cosgrove, Chloe Johnson and Alice Walshe.

Girls Under 12: Kristina O’Connor was an excellent winner of the girls U12 60m final and other athletes in this event included Ellen Cheung, Sarah Flaherty, Aoife Jackson, Aoife Linnane and Siofra Byrne.
In the Girls U12 600m, Ellen Cheung showed fine form in qualifying for next week’s final and both Aoife Linnane and Eva Moloney also ran well to earn final spots as well.

Boys Under 12: Evan Walshe remains our standout performer in this age group with two excellent second place finishes in the 600m and a very close 60m sprint final between the 6 participants. Other athletes from BAC in this age group were Patrick Crotty, Thomas Byrne and Alex Killiea.

Girls Under 13: In the 600m Sarah Healy comfortably qualified for next week’s final and we had excellent performances today from Sarah O’Dea, Jennifer O’Brien, Alanah Scanlon, Sinead O’Shea and Alexandra Duffy.

Boys Under 13: William Hickey was our only participant here today showing up very well in the 60m Sprint and Hurdles

Girls Under 14: Robyn O’Brien was an excellent 3rd place finisher in the girls 60m against very strong opposition. Well done Robyn. Other participants here were Grace Doyle and Nicole Gallagher.
In the 800m Natasha Twomey qualified with ease for next weeks final.

Boys Under 14: Ruairi Moore was our only participant here over the two days and had a fine race in the 60m heats finishing in second place.

Boys Under 15: Rory Linnane gave a fine account of himself over the two days in the 60m and 800m.

Girls Under 17: Cliodhna Kelly did very well to qualify for the Under 17 200m final in her first outing for the club.
