& Founder of the Club’s Ladies Section
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Paddy Craddock, life member of Blackrock Athletic Club, founder of the Ladies Section, coach for many years, and father to our own coach, Patricia Craddock-Smith.  May he rest in peace.Tomorrow night’s One Mile Challenge is postponed to a later date as a mark of respect.  Patricia and her family are in our hearts and minds and our deepest condolences on the passing of her loving father Paddy Craddock.  Funeral details will follow.

Father-and-daughter team Paddy Craddock & Patricia Craddock-Smith have been with the club since the very beginning.  Paddy joined Blackrock Athletic Club in 1955 when he was 20 years of age while Patricia joined in 1969 at the age of 11.  Together they have given over 100 years of service to the club as long-time athletes, club coaches, club administrators, club delegates and race officials   Paddy was a veteran of many marathons and had run the first 30 (Thirty!) Dublin City Marathons.  He also competed for Ireland at numerous Masters International Cross Country Competitions.
