We had a big turn out on Saturday in Abbotstown. Congratulations to Philip Doyle on his U14 boys LJ title with a very impressive 5.02. We also had several top 3 finishes across all the events. Report as follows:

Under 12’s: Well done to all athletes today who took part today in the 60m sprints . It was very competitive for both boys and girls . Conor Burke and Matthew ODonnell made the semi finals and Matthew narrowly missed out on the finals. Leah McHugh and Aela kelly made it through to the semi finals with strong performances but unfortunately didn’t make the finals. Read more

The Dublin Indoors got off to a flying start for the Blackrock Juvenile groups as we stormed to two Dublin titles in the Boys U14 & U16 4 x 200m relay finals. The girls U10 team also tasted the Indoor arena for the first time and had a fine 3rd place in their final. Anna McCarthy also had a fine 3rd place in the girls U16 Shot.

Leinster Schools XC update

Congrats to Holly O’Brien (St Andrews) who qualified as an individual for the All Ireland Minor Schools Final in March. After a very poor start, Holly battled back to finish in 8th place and also led the St Andrews Team to a silver team medal.

Antoine Roquette was part of the Wesley College Boys Team who took team bronze in the boys Junior race. They have also booked a place in the All Ireland Schools Finals in March.

Lucy Schwer (Holy Child Killiney) also had a fine run in the Girls Senior race.

Congratulations to all our athletes who took part in the East Leinster Schools XC competition at Avondale last week.

Holly O’Brien (St Andrews) continued her recent good form with a fine win in the girls Minor race and also led her team to 1st place. Ruby Mullen was also part of the victorious team.

Daniel Norton and James Neary were part of the Willow Park 1st year team taking part in the boys Minor race. Jack Fairmaner (St Andrews) was also competing in the Boys Minor race and just missed out on Individual qualification for the Leinsters finishing in 16th place.

Hannah O’Brien (St Andrews) and Annalie McMahon (Mount Anville) had strong runs in the girls Junior race while Antoinne Roquette (Wesley College) was 6th in the boys Junior race and part of the team that took 1st place.

Lucy Schwer (Holy Child) also had a strong run finishing 10th in the Girls Senior race 

Top 15 individual and top 3 teams go on to the Leinster Schools XC championships in Santry in early February.

Our 2009-2012 age groups enjoyed the plush surroundings of NIA’s arena on Sunday where they got the opportunity to work with their coaches on the various disciplines in advance of the Dublin Indoor Championships. Well done to all involved.

Congrats to Killian Thornton who took a massive 2 mins off his previous best at the Park Run in Cabinteely over the weekend.

A big thank you to the Athletes & Coaches from the 2004-2008 age groups who took the opportunity on Saturday to get re-accustomed to the great facilities @ NIA in advance of the forthcoming Dublin Indoor Championships.

In total we had 78 athletes participating over the first two hours in the following workshops: Sprints, Hurdles, Middle Distance, Long Jump, High Jump and Shot.

The groups then turned their attention to the 4 x 200m relay practice session which brought the usual buzz and excitement for all involved.

Next up are the athletes in the age groups 2009-2011 who will be training at the arena from 11 am to 1 pm on Sunday next 26th January.

Blackrock A.C. wins 8 medals at Dublin Masters Cross Country 2020

St. Anne’s Park in Dublin was the setting of the Dublin Masters Cross Country on January 5th with 12 Women and 17 Men from Blackrock A.C. completing the event on a tough course albeit in perfect running conditions. First lady home from the club was Helen Marie Maher (9th in age category) and Brian Lenihan was the first home from the club in the Men’s race (7th in age category). Many of the runners had their first experience of cross country including Victoria, Nuala, Sameer, James and Volkan.

 

The medallists on the day were as follows:
F60 Grainne Grennan Gold, Antoinette Healy Silver
M60 Pat McCavana Silver
M75 Hugh Finlay Gold
F50 Ladies Team Silver (Dervla Batt, Dee O’Mahony, Grainne Grennan, Antoinette Healy)
