Congratulations to all our athletes who took part in the East Leinster Schools XC competition at Avondale last week.

Holly O’Brien (St Andrews) continued her recent good form with a fine win in the girls Minor race and also led her team to 1st place. Ruby Mullen was also part of the victorious team.

Daniel Norton and James Neary were part of the Willow Park 1st year team taking part in the boys Minor race. Jack Fairmaner (St Andrews) was also competing in the Boys Minor race and just missed out on Individual qualification for the Leinsters finishing in 16th place.

Hannah O’Brien (St Andrews) and Annalie McMahon (Mount Anville) had strong runs in the girls Junior race while Antoinne Roquette (Wesley College) was 6th in the boys Junior race and part of the team that took 1st place.

Lucy Schwer (Holy Child) also had a strong run finishing 10th in the Girls Senior race

Top 15 individual and top 3 teams go on to the Leinster Schools XC championships in Santry in early February.

Our 2009-2012 age groups enjoyed the plush surroundings of NIA’s arena on Sunday where they got the opportunity to work with their coaches on the various disciplines in advance of the Dublin Indoor Championships. Well done to all involved.

Congrats to Killian Thornton who took a massive 2 mins off his previous best at the Park Run in Cabinteely over the weekend.

A big thank you to the Athletes & Coaches from the 2004-2008 age groups who took the opportunity on Saturday to get re-accustomed to the great facilities @ NIA in advance of the forthcoming Dublin Indoor Championships.

In total we had 78 athletes participating over the first two hours in the following workshops: Sprints, Hurdles, Middle Distance, Long Jump, High Jump and Shot.

The groups then turned their attention to the 4 x 200m relay practice session which brought the usual buzz and excitement for all involved.

Next up are the athletes in the age groups 2009-2011 who will be training at the arena from 11 am to 1 pm on Sunday next 26th January.

Holly takes top 10 finish at All Irl XC in Dunboyne

Comments Off on Holly takes top 10 finish at All Irl XC in Dunboyne Uncategorized

Congrats to club athlete Holly O’Brien who was in outstanding form over the weekend in the All Irl U13 2500m at Dunboyne, Co Meath. Having only finished in 8th place in the Dublin County Final back in October, Holly’s hard work over the last few weeks paid rich dividends with a 10th place finish in the race and third Dublin athlete home.

In what were typical XC underfoot conditions, Holly was in the lead group from the start and stayed in touch throughout with a great performance. She was also part of the Dublin team that won County Team Gold and Province Team bronze..

This caps off another fine year for Holly, having represented the club in three National Competitions, and keeping a great club tradition of underage middle distance top 10’s on the National stage.

She also had the added bonus of been recognised as the Club’s Juvenile athlete of the year for 2019.

A great way to round off 2019. Well done Holly.
