League 1 summary:
Santry hosted the first League last evening with a strong representation from our younger age groups. Once again there was a sizeable entry from all the Dublin clubs and a big thank you to the support from all the BAC parents and we hope the athletes had an enjoyable evening. In some cases it was their first competitive race with the club.
Girls/ Boys U10; Annalie McMahon was running up a year and had a fine set of sprints when finishing in 3rd place overall. Ella Cowman also had a great evening in making the sprint finals and finishing the middle distance race in storming style. Hannah O’Brien and Sophie Maher also participated in the sprints and Long Jump. Well done girls. In the boys event, Steven Flaherty had a fine run over the 500m.
Girls/ Boys U11: Some great performances here with Isabel O’Brien taking top spot in the sprints finals. Sarah O’Brien also picked up points in the sprint final and Lucy Schwer was unlucky not to make the final and also had a strong run in the 600m finishing in 4th place where Isabel O’Brien won her heat. Rachel Kenny, Hannah Slyne, and Abby Connaughton also did very well in their set of races.
A big congratulations to Denis Gilevskiy who recorded two fine victories in the sprints and 600m in his first official race with the club. He was ably supported in the sprints final by Ciaran Patchell, Oliver Coffey and Daniel Mullane. Other strong performances by Harry Mellon, Matthew Horkan, Tom Cosgrove, Doug Walshe, Barry Winters, Yuri Cox and Thomas Doran.
In the Turbo Javelin, Doug Walshe had a fine first place with Ciaran Patchell finishing in second place whilst it was a 1,2,3 for the U11 girls..Sarah O’Brien, Lucy and Isabel. Well done to you all.

Last years League winner Laura Gallagher, started with a fine second place in the 80m sprints final and a strong showing in the 600m finishing in third place. Kate Cowman, Maria Coffey, Alex Purcell and Aoibh Brady also participated over the various U12 events.
