Share Your Best Moments
As we head towards Christmas and 2021 draws to a close, we look back on what has been at times uncertain but overall an action-packed year for athletic events. With that, we invite you to share your favourite moments with us for a special feature by filling out our Google Form. We would especially like to hear from coaches and parents too!
Turkey Trot 2021
The annual Blackrock A.C. Turkey Trot took place yesterday in Carysfort Park. The event had everyone in great spirits and even with the absence of some traditional activities, it was great to catch up and celebrate the achievements and great community spirit with so many Blackrock A.C. members.
Photos of the event have been added to Blackrock A.C. Facebook and Instagram pages, which can be seen below.
Thank you to everyone who attended and for directing your generosity towards Blood Bikes East. The final total raised for this 100% voluntary organisation was €2,148. We hope that this can go a long way to help other families in need of their services. A big thanks to Mark and the rest of the team also for a huge amount of organising. More on the Turkey Trot will follow in a separate update.
Recent Runs
Annual Grafton St
Blackrock A.C. Fit4Life had a nice long run on Saturday morning to Grafton Street, and back.
As part of this, Rachel completed her 14th half marathon of 2021, including running one per month. Well done Rachel.
Thanks to Gerry as always for organising a very fun and enjoyable morning.
Cabinteely Darkrun
A small group of members took part in a not-parkrun this evening in Cabinteely Park. With head torches and all sorts of fancy-lighting attire, they braved the parkrun route to complete 5ks, with no PBs recorded.
Some admittedly only came for some of the baked treats that followed but everyone had a magical experience running the park together at night.
Thanks Imelda for organising and for the cupcakes too!
One to Watch
Blackrock A.C. was well represented on Saturday in Cabinteely and our members were the first 5 home.
What was particularly impressive was juvenile member Holly who completed her first parkrun and finished second place in a time of 19:21, 13 seconds behind Cabo veteran Ted Burke, who admitted he could not have kept up the lead any longer. She also finished almost a minute ahead of her own coach Ger O’Toole.
Hopefully, we see you again soon up there Holly, well done!
Membership Open for 2022
