Day 1 of the 2015 National Juvenile T&F Finals brought some great performances from our athletes in Tullamore Harriers AC. Given the large numbers competing it was true Championship running with heats in the U14 + older age groups for the first time in a long while.
A big congratulations to Denis Gilevskiy who took a convincing victory in the boys U12 600m with a new Championship Best Performance. The multi talented Gilevskiy was in total control storming away from the main pack with 200m to go in a very impressive time. Well done to Denis who was a very popular winner. It was his first taste of competition at this level and what a way to announce his arrival !!.
Lara Gilespie (U15) and AmyRose Farrell (U16) were equally impressive in taking silver medals in their respective 800m races. Both girls took control of their heats and were involved in exciting finishes in their finals. A great set of runs bearing in mind the very short turn around between the races. The girls can be very satisfied with their performances. Well done to both of them.
Pappy Tucker was in total control of his heat (U14 boys|) and with 300m to go in the final he was in pole position but unfortunately had to pull out after felling unwell. Rotten luck for Pappy.
Earlier in the day both Natasha Rolland and Lucy Schwer performed very well in the TJ and HJ gaining lots of experience along the way whilst Cara Brady had a fine 6th place finish in a recent Combined Events competition. Well done to all three girls.
