East Leinsters round up Day 1 & 2: Club athletes shine in Santry for schools (updated)

Santry played host to the East Leinster T&F qualifiers over the last two days. The competition attracted large crowds on both days with weather conditions bordering on Baltic at stages!! Well done to all involved and a summary below:

Minor Girls & Boys Day 1/2: Congratulations to Emma O’Brien (Mount Anville/80m) and Ellen Cheung (Mount Anville/500m) on securing individual titles on Wednesday. Both girls also formed part of the Mount Anville team who took gold in the 4 x 100m relay on Thursday. We also had strong performances from Rachel Walshe (St Andrews/ 80m final 5th) and Evan Walshe (St Benildus/ 6th) in the Long Jump. Our newest recruit, Jordan Mynes (Oatlands), was leading the hurdles and was very unlucky when colliding on the last hurdle took him out of the Top 3 but made up for it by winning the 800m B race in the Minor category. Alan Casey (Oatlands) also had a steady run in the Minor boys 800m.

Junior Girls/ Boys Day 1/2: Congratulations to Kristina O’Connor (Loreto Dalkey) who took an impressive Gold in the 200m and a bronze in the 100m whilst Pappy Tucker (St Michaels) was a very strong 5th place in the 100m final and followed this up with a third place in the 800m before helping the St Michaels relay team to an impressive gold in the 4 x 100m relay. Beth Sweeney (Sion Hill) finished with a Bronze in the 200m. Will Hickey (St Michaels) took a first ever Bronze for the club in the Hammer event!! Cianan Martin anchored St Michaels to victory in the 4 x 100m B Junior final and there were also strong performances from Lina Kyne (Rathdown 4th in 1500m), Claire Doyle (Mt Anville), Anan Dignam (Mt Anville/ top 3 in 200m B Race), Luke Pierce (Blackrock College), Jack Moraghan (Clonkeen College) Aoife Cunningham (Sion Hill), Ellie Fitzgerald (Muckross), Mia Leahy (Loreto Foxrock), Isabelle Crimmins (Mt Anville) and Cailtlin Kelly (St Raphaela’s)

U16 Girls/ Boys Day 1: Congratulations to Sarah Healy (Holy Child Killiney) who was taking part in the Mile event and was a runaway winner on Day 1 and then went on to anchor relay victories for HCK in the 4 x 300m and 4 x 400m over the two days. Sinead O’Shea (Muckross) was part of the 4 x 300m team that finished in second place.

Inter/ Senior Girls/ Boys Day 1/2: Congratulations to AmyRose Farrell (Mt Anville/3000m), Robyn O’Brien (Mt Anville/ 100m), Lara Gilespie (Wesley Col/ 800m) and Oisin Kelly (Newpark CS/ Steeplechase) on fine individual titles. Robyn also took Silver in the 200m with Natasha Twomey (also Mt Anville) taking silver in the 100m. Sarah O’Dea (Mt Anville) took bronze in the 200m. All three girls helped Mt Anville to gold in the 4 x 100m relay. Lara also had a fine silver in the 300m. Jennifer O’Brien (Mt Anville) took bronze in the Long Jump. Julie Ringrose (Mt Anville) narrowly missed out on a Top 3 in the 800m and we had other fine performances from Patrick Moran (St Michaels), Jack Moarn and Grace Manning (HCK).
