Hopefully, this wonderful weather will last and allow all of our athletes to get out and run in the sun. The Virtual Easter Challenge is taking place from Wednesday to Tuesday of next week.
56 athletes, age groups 2008/7/6/5/4 are sorted into 14 relay teams for a 1k interclub challenge with Lucan Harriers, Tullamore Harriers and Cabinteely AC. Best of luck to all as they represent us in the virtual competition.
Blackrock A.C. Adults v Juveniles Virtual Easter Challenge
Also across the age groups, everyone in the club is running their fastest 1k for Easter. The top 42 times in both the Adult and Juvenile sections of the club form the Easter marathon result. The competition will be fierce as the adults and kids try to beat each other!
Can we ask everyone doing their runs to dig out the club singlets and let’s show the club in action virtually?
Photos Please
In the interest of making our website great, please share photos with relevant coaches from before, during or after the run. Also #BlackrockAC on socials.
COVID Compliance
It is really important to make sure everyone participating in the challenge is COVID compliant. Runners can take part in the Virtual Easter Challenge with a maximum of one friend or team member. All athletes should record their own times if possible. However, if a parent is required to supervise or record times please remember covid compliance.
Blackrock Park
Start at the bus stop at Booterstown playground and continue on the new path all the way down to the end of the lake. The1k finishes just after the lake where the main path intersects with the path that wraps around the lake. The key marker is the distinctive curve or just out of the wall on the left-hand side.
Key markers: first tower = 516m and second tower = 800m
Carysfort Park
Starting at the red line on the path directly outside the clubhouse and doing 1 x pond lap/935m (staying on the footpath) and then continuing on past the clubhouse up to a small group of trees where there is a red line with 1k displayed.
Blackrock College: For Willow park or Blackrock college students only…. the 200m grass track is marked out on the front lawn so 5 x laps
^Alternative routes:* try and pick a flat terrain for your run if doing it on in their routes.
Good luck to all and important to do a 15/20 min warm-up including some strong strides before setting off.
