Congratulations to Robyn O’Brien (Inter girls 100m) and AmyRose Farrell (Inter girls 3000m) on individual honours earlier today in Santry. Some excellent performances as follows:
A great day for Robyn O’Brien (Mt Anville)- she took full control of the 100m blasting out of the blocks and never looking back with a very smooth run on a sunkist day in Santry. She followed this up with a great bronze in the 200m and anchored the Mt Anville Relay team to gold in the 4 x 100 Inter girls. Fellow club & school athlete, Natasha Twomey, had a great run in the 100m finishing in fifth place and along with Sarah O’Dea formed part of the Mt Anville team that took gold in the relay. Well done to Robyn & the girls on some fine performances. Jennifer O’Brien (also Mt Anville) had a fine top 6 in the Inter girls Long Jump. Lara Gilespie (Wesley College) ran a massive PB in the Inter girls 800m of 2.17 finishing just outside the top 3 in fourth place and then followed that up with a strong 300m finishing in 6th place. Julie Ringrose (Mt Anville) was also on a PB in the 800m with a fine run (This was one of the races of the day). AmyRose Farrell (Mt Anville) moved through the gears in a pulsating 3k race to take her first Leinster title. A great run considering she fell only 20m into the race but rallied and showed great composure. Her front running time of 9 min 55 secs was just outside the EYOF qualifying time altough she had some consolation in taking a new Leinster record over this distance by some margin. Well done to AmyRose.
