25th February 2012- Dublin Relay Indoor championship Teams & results were as follows:
Our U11 boys finished fourth in their final and this was a fantastic performance when you consider they also only came together as a squad on Thursday evening last.
Our U13 girls finished 6th in their final and our U12 (A) girls team finished 5th in their final. Well done to both squads in what were very competitive races. For most of these athletes it was their first T&F outing of the year.
Our U12 (B) girls team had only finished third in their heats. Even though our team was packed with individual experience, this was their first competitive outing together. With a bit of fine tuning before the finals you could sense a big performanace and they didn’t disappoint, coming in second and securing a place at the Indoor National championships on 1st April. Well done girls!
And then to the boys U13 final. It was the last event of the day and this time last year were unlucky to lose out on a winners medal. There was a steely determination about them as they completed their warm up and with smooth baton changes and a strong finish they held on for first place to secure a well deserved gold medal. It was an exciting finish to a memorable day for all involved. They will also go to the National championships on 1st April. Congratulations to the squad.
Once again Tallaght Athletic Club were perfect hosts and the committee would like to thank all those parents and other athletes (not competing) who turned up on the day and were in full voice.
